About the archive

AArchivesLAne · est. MMXXVI
An independent, non-commercial archive.

AArchivesLAne is a small, evolving collection of photographs — some taken deliberately, some found, some remembered. It is arranged by hand rather than by algorithm: folders instead of feeds, dates instead of trends, notes instead of captions written to be shared.

The archive is built around a simple idea: photographs deserve to be kept rather than consumed. Nothing here is ranked, recommended, or pushed to the top. What you see is what has been kept, in the order it was kept.

Every photograph can be opened and written about. Notes are short, signed — or not — and they stay with the photograph, the way a note tucked behind a print always did.

Folders can be added from the Admin section, and photographs can be added from a device and placed into any folder. The archive grows the way a real one does: slowly, on purpose.

Kept by hand

Every photograph is filed deliberately — into a folder, with a date, by a person.

No ranking

Nothing rises to the top here. What you see is simply what has been kept.

Notes, not captions

Photographs can be answered with short handwritten notes that stay in the archive.

Palette

Cream paper, dark brown ink, soft caramel — with clay, ochre, olive, rose and stone arriving as small accents.
